Location: Bradford, UK
Institute: IESH, France
Course of study: Shariah Studies
Having completed the memorisation of the Quran at Masjid-e-Quba in 2008, Muhammad trained in the ICT field, graduating with a BSc from the University of Bradford. After graduation Muhammad moved to France to pursue the Shariah Studies programme at the European Institute for Human Sciences. He started with a 2 year Arabic Language course in 2012 and began his Shariah Degree in 2014, aiming to complete by July 2017.
The European Institute of Human Sciences is a highly regarded centre for Islamic Theology based in France. A rare example of a residential institute which focuses on the classically taught Islamic sciences, based outside of the Middle East. Importantly, all subjects at IESH are delivered in the Arabic Language which requires a high-level of proficiency from all students.
The Shariah Studies degree covers a wide range of Islamic Sciences including Islamic Jurisprudence, Islamic Theology, Foundations of Religion (Aqeedah), Quranic Exegesis (Tafsir), Recitation and Hadith analysis. A graduate of this course of study would be qualified to exercise the function of Imam, Teacher, Chaplain or Speaker and we have high hopes that Muhammad will make a valuable contribution to the Muslim and wider community in the UK on his return to the UK.
